I certainly hope that isn't the case Many thanks for the reply. As it happens you seem to have missed another of my replies where I said I had now fixed the problem. To clarify I upgraded Windows 7 to 10 had a lot of problems I won't bore you with and now running well and happy. However, I was unable to eject a dvd as I couldn't find the screen I had been familiar with. Fortunately I am operating from Apple Mac with Windows on a partition so moved to Apple where, not surprisingly, the disc was showing on desktop so ejected it from there.
